None of these myths has really surprised me, however the last one about “where you build your start-up” is interesting.

Where you build your start-up may affect how quickly it can take off. We live in Australia and if you compare our population size and potential market with the rest of the world I think we are in the same boat as Canada, it kinda sux.

Myth 5 for me is not a very strong myth. I’m under the impression that most techpreneur’s wet dream is a start up in Silicon Valley.

I liked the section where the disadvantages and advantages were presented, maybe there is hope after all.

Hey Mark, it’s true that for most tech-startups silicon valley is mecca. Reality is you gotta start somewhere, and it’s far harder if you are based here to drop everything and move up there – it’s always cheaper to stay home. the challenge is ours to make Melbourne more accommodating to startups!

    - Gabriel, I probably phrased the question less than optimaly. better would have been which one of the facts was most surprising. Agreed with Australia being handicapped by the small population size, that’s not changing any time soon though :)
