Our New Initiative: “Startup 101″ Talk + Info Session

“Startup 101″ is a new initiative by SE|AoC to continue inspiring and educate university students about entrepreneurship. It is comprised of both a “Talk” component as well as an “Info Session” component.

The Talk
The Talk sets about challenging every pre-existing (and misleading) notion you may have about how to start a business, and provide you with the business principles used by successful startups with specific examples of how they operate in the real world.

Warning: Please forget about everything you have learned in class or textbook before attending this event!

The Info Session
Feeling inspired after hearing the talk? This is your chance to experience what a real startup is like by joining SE|AoC. The founders have structured our club to operate exactly like a startup, so everybody in the core team is expected to behave like a cofounder! (and yes, we are totally different from all the other student clubs on campus)

More specifically, this means small teams, massive responsibility from day one, work like there’s no tomorrow and learn a great deal by the end of your project! Come to the event to find out more.

Cost? Your 60 minutes of attention! (FREE)

“Startup 101″ (UniMelb) – Principles of Entrepreneurship: using SE|AoC as a case study

Date/Time: Wed 12 May, 4.15 – 5.15pm
Location: Room 2.016, The Spot Building (UniMelb)

• Startups are different from big businesses, it requires a different mindset / modus operandi.

• Student Entrepreneurs president Tian Yang, who has been involved with the club since its very early days, will be sharing the four lessons we have learned about entrepreneurship during the startup phase of our club – what we did wrong in our first year and then successfully rebuilt the club after adopting a number of real startup principles.

• These four lessons will apply in any startup situation that you’ll face in the future.

• We are also looking for committed students to join our core group to take the club to its next stage – do you have what it takes?
